Skating Success

Two Wallace Hall Academy pupils have recently enjoyed further success with their skating. As part of the Solway Sk8ing Club, Lily Simpson (S2) and Heather Gibson (S4) travelled to Sheffield recently to compete in the Steel City Trophy synchronised skating competition. Both girls skate with Solway Eclipse who came 1st in their category, winning a gold medal and achieving a personal best of 58.31 points for their fantastic routine. Heather also skates with Solway Stars, and they came home with a silver medal following their powerful and theatrical routine on day 2. Well done girls.

Mr Graham, Head Teacher at Wallace Hall Academy said: “Congratulations to Lily and Heather for winning gold and silver medals with their skating teams. The girls have both achieved significant success in the sport of synchronised skating and it is great to watch them progress with the club. The Solway Sk8ting Club has been an important focus for many of our pupils at Wallace Hall and the level of training, resilience and commitment required to compete with the club delivers invaluable life lessons for the future.”
