Footballing success
Five Wallace Hall Academy pupils, Kirstin Brown, Ellie Hyslop, Mikayla Larisma, Ellis McMillan and Muirinn White, play for Queen of the South ladies’ football teams. Ellie, Ellis and Muirinn play for Queen of the South’s Under 17 ladies’ team and Kirstin and Mikayla play for the Under 15s. At the weekend, both teams were delighted to be crowned champions of their respective SWF Regional Leagues. This was the culmination of a very successful season of ladies’ football for both teams. The girls are all fully committed to Queen of the South, training twice weekly and travelling to fixtures at the weekend.
After try outs earlier this year, Mikayla has also just learned that she has been chosen to play for the Dumfries and Galloway Under 15 regional netball team.
Barry Graham, Head Teacher at Wallace Hall, said: “I am delighted to learn of the girls’ footballing success. They all clearly have great talent on the footballing field and this, coupled with their commitment, resilience and self-motivation has helped their teams achieve this terrific result. Congratulations also to Mikayla for her recent selection to the regional netball team. At Wallace Hall we are keen to encourage girls to take part in sport and Ellie, Ellis, Kirstin, Mikayla and Muirinn are all excellent role models for the school. Well done girls.”
