Easter Gifts

A little bit of early Easter sunshine arrived this week to Wallace Hall with the arrival of a wall of Easter eggs that were generously gifted to our ELC and primary children by Thornhill Gala Committee.

Delivered to the school by Gala Committee members Sheila Jones and Corinna Harkness, the eggs will be distributed to all pupils in Wallace Hall ELC and Primary over the next few days in the lead up to the Easter holidays.

Sheila said: “We have been unable to organise any of our usual events and the children have missed out so much over the past year. We hope the Easter eggs bring joy and hopefully we can get some fun events organised for the community as soon as it is safe to do so.”

On hand to take delivery of the Easter eggs was Mrs Mackenzie, Acting DHT at Wallace Hall Primary. Mrs Mackenzie said: “The children in the Nursery and Primary School will be delighted to receive their Easter eggs and we would like to extend our thanks to the Thornhill Gala Committee for their kind donation. The Gala Committee contacted the school several weeks ago and offered to buy every child in Nursery and Primary an Easter egg as a special treat and they have arranged this in a COVID-safe manner. We are pleased to have been able to continue our partnership with Thornhill Gala in this way.”

Primary 3 pupils were the first to be presented with their Easter eggs and there were lots of happy faces and excitement as the eggs were handed out. Primary 3 pupils commented:

Cammy: "I felt I was going to explode because I was so excited."

Jessica: "It was eggciting"

Ewan: "I thought it was really lucky for us."

Alexander: "I felt it was really thoughtful."

Callum: "Thanks for the eggcelent surprise."

The children’s beaming smiles show without doubt that this generous gesture from Thornhill Gala Committee was very much appreciated.
