Celebrating Success at Wallace Hall
It was great to see so many pupils and parents at our Junior Celebration of Success last night. Certificates were presented for excellent attainment and endeavour as well as for wider achievement and representative honours.
The show opened with a rousing performance from our 'School of Rock' cast. The cast are working hard to put on the full show which will take place in the Bailey Hall at Wallace Hall on 9th, 10th and 11th of October. Tickets for this will be available from our school office early next term.
Our compere for the night was Mr Arrowsmith, Acting DHT, and he welcomed Dr Fulton, our Acting Head Teacher, on stage to present his review of the past year. First year pupils were then presented with their Attainment and Endeavour awards by Mr Mack, Acting Depute. This was followed by a very musically articulate performance on the piano of “River Flows in You” by Sonny Riddell.
Following this, Mr Mack presented our second year awards, after which we had pupil reflections from Josie Blount (Head Girl), Finlay Bainbridge (Head Boy) and Pupil Council members Olivia Andreasen, Safa Ali, Cerys Sammon and Angus MacCormick.
Once the S3 awards had been presented, it was the turn of vocalist Tilly Wilson-Machin, who was ably accompanied by Vaughn Staples on guitar. Tilly and Vaughn’s rendition of “Valerie” was very well received by the audience. The prize giving section of the evening was then concluded with our sporting and wider achievement awards.
The finale came from our young engineering team, Glic, who highlighted their achievements this year in the World Robotics Championship in Detroit.
Grahame Arrowsmith said: “It has been a pleasure to be part of the organising team for this event. I would like to personally congratulate all of our award winners and thank the pupils who participated in the evening.”
